Round 2, Day 2
Up bright and early on a Sunday morning to get my 2nd round of Vyxeos chemo. There’s definitely a few side effects I’ve noticed. Of course fatigue ranks up there. Lots of heart burn and burping. Weird symptoms I know but something that’s unusual for me. Sleeping is the worst though. I have hot flashes, weird shaking, and just a general sense of unease that makes getting to sleep difficult. And for those that know me, know that is extremely weird. I’m normally asleep before my head hits the pillow.
I did however manage a small quick workout yesterday so that’s something. A few deadlifts and a couple different row variations. No discomfort or pain in or around my port site. Positive progress. It’s looking like since I’ll have a few more days at home than originally planned I’ll have a few more days to get some workouts in.
They’ve talked about letting me ride this treatment out at home, where last time they admitted me 3 days after my last dose. I think before they were worried about tumor lysis syndrome (bad things can happen to the body when a massive amount of cancer cells all die at once and need somewhere to go). About a week to 10 days after being admitted I started my first fever. If that happens again, I’ll definitely be admitted but we’re looking to avoid that if at all possible. I’m much more comfortable and confident at home, as I think most people are.
We’ll ride this out and see where it takes us. One more day down. One day at a time.
Hope you get to stay at home, Will – so much more comfortable for you – and your family! 🙂
